A question for sample library gurus. - Nevermind, knew I'd figure it out AFTER I posted
I've searched the forum, and even surfed the web, but I'm getting nowhere... and to keep things simple (?) I'll restrict myself to Kontakt5, and the KH ConcertStrings2
As recently as 8.5, I think, I could set up my VI tracks as follows:
1) MIDI track, points to a specific channel in the Kontakt instance, and is used for the notes and controllers (e.g. velocity, CC11)
2) MIDI track, configured as a drum map, points to the same channel/instance in Kontakt, and us used for key switches only
3) Audio track - nuff said.
Why do it this way? Two reasons - first, it lets me label the keys as specific articulations so I don't have to remember that C#1 is Pizzicato, nor do I need a cheat sheet<G>! This is the stumbling block at the moment, I can no longer create drum maps with the keys named as such. Second, the notes used for key switches tend to make notation messy. I export the MIDI to Finale, and I can strip the 'extra' notes out there, but it's even easier if they are separate tracks.
Anyone care to offer some assistance??
Thanks!
