A question on track recording

Hi guys,

I've got part of an audio track recorded that I like but I want to begin playing it and finish the audio around halfway through. Problem is, whenever I start recording the track won't play as it's recording and it seems to be either recording over or on top of what's already there. The only workaround I've found is to place the clip in a separate track so it'll play and then start recording at the desired point in the original track, if you get me. Anyone know a simpler way of doing this? Many thanks

Go to your preferences and change from comping mode to sound on sound... I believe you can go ride toy to he option by right clicking on the record button in the Control Bar

Just realised the problem. I was in a take lane. I copied the clips up to the main track and it plays when I record. Thanks for your help buddy. I now know it's blend on blend mode I need.

I'm unfamiliar with blend on blend... I use sound on sound which allows the playback of previously recorded material while adding more dubs... I manually adjust for any areas I don't want to hear by splitting and muting the clip areas... There is a 3rd mode that I've never used... I don't remember what it's called but it wasn't what I was looking for...

Well, I usually insert a new audio track, select the input channel , enable the record feature n press record. Audio
playback of any already existing will play while the new one gets recorded.
