A question regarding New Cakewalk Bandlab members
A buddy of mine is planning on using CbB as his DAW (once his PC is built), but apparently no new accounts can be created (as per this message): "New accounts have been disabled". How is one to register/sign on when this is disabled?

for this forum? you can't, and won't be able to, as their plan is a replacement forum, which will materialise at some point

That's kind of messed up....none of the new members will be able to ask any questions here.

My guess is for now, if new users seek help from a site bearing the Cakewalk name they use Facebook. I have heard Facebook is a popular place. Can't say for sure, don't have login and only use it to view the VCV Rack group.

Same here Steve, I don't have/do FB and neither does my friend. I may have to be the 'middleman' if my friend has questions. On the plus side, there are a lot of good stuff on Youtube.

Yes, there is a lively Cakewalk User Group at FB, helpful, friendly and patient with new users, too. Cheers

The FB group is good, but this community here is great. It's a great shame new peeps can't join us. I questioned the length of time it is taking for the "road map" to start coming to fruition a while ago, including the new forum setup and archiving of this one. Other than a couple of pages on BL and monthly updates (which are greatly appreciated) there hasn't been any real sign of change yet. I was accused of being impatient then, but when Atari was bought by one guy and his sons, they managed to get their first computer in the trade shows within 6 months and in stores around the world in less than a year. Impressive, because in that time they developed hardware and chips, wrote an entire operating system and got software companies involved in making sure there was great software available in time for its release - in just 6 months. Not to mention all the design, development and testing. So far it's taken Band Lab 5 months to install new forum software! Meanwhile, I suspect the user base of serious users in this community is in steady decline because a lot of us are still feeling a bit uncertain about what's going on here and are perhaps not so keen on being completely reliant on CbB when we have other DAWs that seem to have a bright future.
Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

Since new logins have be disabled for a while now, it would be nice to see the new forum up and running. Of course I want them to make sure all my registered stuff migrates first! So, for now, Facebook seems to be the optimal resource for new users that don't already have a cakewalk forum login. Point your friends new to Cakewalk to facebook for now, I guess. The one they'll want is the one Bob Bergen is the moderator of: the "Cakewalk/Sonar User Group (C/SUG)" - and is very active. There is a Cakewalk by Bandlab User group too - there's not much going on for that page that I can tell. There is also the Cakewalk Software page, but they don't seem to update their page very often, either.

We had say in the telecom company I used to work for.....temporary solutions become permanent solutions if the real solution is not delivered fast enough.
The longer it takes to get the new website up the stronger the FB community will get.
i don't and don't want to use FB. i just hope it's not where BL is heading.

Bob Bergen's Facebook group is very good and well attended, probably even more so than this forum. I've noticed that a lot of the more traditional fora are falling to facebook groups. Sign of the times I suppose.
