Hi Pat, which one ? You should give them nicer titles. Both are nice  but the guitar tone is very dry and di'd. I liked the first one best, reminded me a bit of "Friday night at San Francisco", ask your guitar player. The second one sounds better but the guitar playing is a bit hesitative .

Master Demo 2 (The first one).  Jason mentioned he wants to record it again, he is not happy with that.  We were just fooloing around one day and captured this.  I thought it would be a nice one to mix and master in X1.
You are correct it is just DI.  A mistake I won't make again after listening to your recordings.  They sound much more open.

    Thanks!

I think the performance is great, the guitars seem to sound a little distorted? I'm not sure if it's the recording, or the setup? i.e., strings buzzing. I would work on the attack of the guitar playing lead, i.e., hit it with a nice compressor with a fast attack.

    I like this work......

My only nit would be that who ever is playing the guitar part is over driving it......Every note has that little bit of buzzing from the (assuming) Right Hand Attack....

If not then the action is to low and needs to be slightly raised a bit.....

Unless of course you are playing it on a Flamenco guitar  with a Pick)
That is the one thing I had to get used to when listening to flamenco players play.....that buzzing.......it grates on my nerves ....but that is how the instrument is designed so I accept it as that and live with it....but do not like it.......oh well......

    but that is "MY" issue......

the tune itself .....I really like.....it drives along very nicely......

Hi Pat, whenever I DI my guitar I use a vst effect called Voxengo Stereotouch. Its freeware and makes the mono DI signal wider and takes away the directness, as if there was some space around the guitar. I usually add a bit of reverb to create even more space. Even when I record with a mic I usually also record a DI track. This gives you more options while mixing. For instance using the DI track to give the guitar sound some extra body by compressing that pretty heavy but keeping the mic track with minimal compression to keep it lively.

man - soundclick ads again!  they drive me nuts!  I've figured out now that I have to click on the song to be played and let the player pop up, stop it, then shut down the window with the list of songs in it so the stupid ad will shut the up!

sorry.  soundclick rant over for now.

man this is really really nice, Pat.  I also would like to hear a little less string buzz, but the playing is really great and the song is really cool.

I happen to like these kinds of 'jams', 'cause you never know what's gonna come out of them.

I think the playing is really good, but, I'm always picky about acoustic tone, so, throwing a mic in there wouldn't hurt at all.

Very nice.  I don't hear any buzzing but he does hesitate on some of the lead notes.  I play a decent guitar but I do that same thing so I pretty much stick with writing on the guitar and playing bass.  He is much better than me and I think that "hesitation" happens when you are jamming and don't have a plan.  Kinda sounds like what you are saying.  Hey for knockin' one out I really liked it.   I listened again.  I am not anywhere as good as him.  I guess I'll stick to bass!!  :-)  Oh, I liked the tones.

Wow...Haven't checked here in a while...Thanks for all the kind words and constructive comments.
I wish I could play as well as Jason.  He is playing my Martin D15.  He does tend to hit a lot harder than most probably causing thne buzzing you are hearing.  I plan on re-recording Jason using Mikes and DI.  He is hard to get over here so it may be a while.  Stay tuned.

Morenoise, how doe the Vonexo plug-in compare to the Cakewalk Channel Tools for widening?

I doubled the rhythm tracks here panned left & right then left mono track of lead,
