A short, heroic tune
Hi, guys, and long time no see! Right now, the big part of my work in Sonar is going to be a series of short clips (between 20s and 2m. This one is 30s) of sort of film-music stuff. This here is the first for the year. https://soundcloud.com/davewesleyrecordings/a-heroic-comeback Give me tips on the mix, arrangement, etc! I used REAL horns here (trumpet, 3 flugels and 4 trombones), and recorded electric guitar to sort of 'augment' the reality of whole thing, since everything else is synths. I think for a roughly 8-hr project, it sounds pretty okay, but please let me know what you think! I'm not sure exactly how many of these tracks I'll make, but I'm doing it to get performance/recording experience on for my horns, learn the best ways to arrange, record and mix this kind of music, and build up a sizable repertoire of show-off material so I can get on-board some game design projects. Thanks!
Mics: MXL 990, MXL R80, 2 x MXL Tempo XLRs, Cobalt Co9, SM48, iSK Starlight Cans: Hifiman HE4XX, AKG M220 Gear: Cakewalk BBL - PreSonus Firepod - Alesis Elevate 3 - Axiom 49 DAW: Win10, AMD FX-8300, 16GB DDR3

Short and sweet, those horns have been very well recorded. Nothing sounds wrong to these ears.

Nothing not to like with that one! The horns do sound very realistic.

I listened to this weeks ago before you removed the link -- didn't get a chance to comment then! Very well recorded and composed -- good stuff... Allan=-=-=
