A studio job I took on in the last 2 days. Dude nails a Drum Cover on a tough song.
I had a project come up that I just kinda had to take....
This kid (a young drummer for a pretty cool local pop/punk rock band) called me up and wanted to do a video/recording of him doing a pretty tough drum part for him to use to apply for some more endorsements. I tracked and recorded the drums (he nailed it on the 2nd take), shot the video, mixed his drums in with the bands track, and produced the video too. We shot this Wednesday night. Finished it just a couple hours ago. It was cool and I found it educational as well. This had WAY more meat 200-400hz than I would have ever put if I wasn't trying to model this kids snare to match the tracks, and the kick is almost all click! I usually have it thumping harder, but.... this was cool. At the end I have a clip with just the drums I recorded-no backing track.
Check this out.
