AAAAGGGGHHH!!! STUDIO SHELF AVALANCHE!!!

Holy crap! I was sitting there happily tracking away with the cans on and I sense some movement directly behind me (which was quite alarming since I am all by meself in my locked apartment). I turned around just in time to see the doors of my standing shelf/cabinet thingie FLY open (I swear for a second I thought someone or someTHING had been hiding in there and right at that moment decided to lunge out and kill me) and all the studio crap inside spilled out onto the floor!! This essentially trapped me in position because it's a tiny room and I am in my gimpmobile. It seems for some reasons the sides of the cabinet had bowed out so much (probably due to humidity) the shelves slid off the little plastic support thingies.

So I have collected up all the various crap off the floor and propped the shelves up with some of the larger/boxy objects so I could temproraily get the crap off the floor and I can open the door to the room again. I WOULD have just moved it all into the other room, pull out my tools and jurigged the shelves so that never happens again but lo and behold only a few hours ago I got notice from my landlords that they are coming in tomorrow to do their annoying arse fire system inspection (which they could have told me about two freaking weeks ago) so I have to get the place cleaned up as it is.

Whatever... that scared the ever loving PIZZWHIZZLES out of me!! Holy freaking hell. Hope nothing broke but I can't be arsed to inspect it all right now. POS mommafrucking ikea crapboard sonnova hoorbait SHNART!!!!

Okay... I'm done.

When I lived in the apartment downstairs there was this rickety built-in shelf running along one wall near the ceiling, probably been there since the dawn of the last century. It wasn't exactly level but I had thought it would be ok and I had all of my big books up there, software manuals and the like. My bed was directly underneath. One night as I was drifting off the thing buckled a little and all of the books came crashing down on my head and chest. I genuinely thought it was the end of the world.

That's sounds like it hurt! High velocity books are not fun (I know from the idiot jocks who used to whip books at people in library whenever the teacher left the room). Just jumping wrenched me up pretty good.

Rather strange sensation when inanimate objects decide to go all "CHECK ME OUT!!! I'M NOT SO INANIMATE NOW AM I, BIZNOTCHES??!!!"

Because I had the cans on with a track running it was all completely silent too (to me at least). My neighbors must think I had some kind of meltdown because there may have been some startled utterances. lulz

There was also a bit of an after shock as I was trying to clean up the mess. The top shelf gave way too after a couple minutes. Fortunately I had already put my hard case (that I use for mics) against the inside of the unit so the one side of the shelf collapsed but landed on top of the case. That shelf is where I keep the more loose stuff and spindles of discs. Those totally would have went flying everywhere otherwise. Ooof.

Edit: HAHAHAHA!!! I just went to listen back to what I had been working on but forgot about the interrupted guitar take. It was DI so no yelling but you can hear the urgent freakout as I stop playing then some frantic whacks agains the guit. Reminds me of live recordings where a fight breaks out or someone gets beaned with a bottle. I seemed to have the wherewithal to stop transport though.

Hi

A couple of months ago I spent $300 on a nice shelf system for my CD's ... now I need another one because it's run out of room already!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I genuinely thought it was the end of the world.

No. Just the end of the bookshelf.

No. Just the end of the bookshelf.

But wouldn't that also, metaphorically, be the start of the bookshelf too?
