AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd Charged With ‘Attempting to Procure a Murder’

Absolutely shocking news coming out of New Zealand, where AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is being charged with attempting to procure a murder.
According to a report by Stuff.co.nz, the 60-year-old rock drummer’s home in New Zealand was raided Thursday morning (Nov. 6), and he has also been charged with possession of meth and cannabis, as well as ‘threatening to kill.’
Rudd is scheduled to appear in Tauranga District Court in New Zealand on Thursday afternoon. No other details about the case are known at this time. According to Wikipedia, procuring a crime means to “command another to commit a crime, whether that person commits the crime.”
It’s not known whether this shocking development is the reason why Rudd was not present at the recent video shoot for two songs off AC/DC’s upcoming ‘Rock or Bust’ album. He also didn’t appear in the band’s most recent promotional photo.

AC/DC Issue Statement on Phil Rudd’s Arrest
A day after AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested for attempting to hire someone to murder two people, the band has issued a statement on the matter. Although there is no definitive word on Rudd’s status with the band, their words hint that his time with the rock legends may be over.
The three-sentence statement was issued on their Facebook page. It reads, “We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album ‘Rock or Bust‘ and upcoming tour next year.”
Rudd was released on bail yesterday after offering no plea, but the use of the word “absence,” without a word like “possible” or “potential” before it, suggests that they are already making plans to carry on without him. There was also no expression of concern along the lines of, “Our thoughts are with him at this difficult time,” which is more-or-less standard in such statements.
Last month, rumors about Rudd’s departure from AC/DC were circulating after they released a new publicity photo for the upcoming record that omitted Rudd, and it was revealed that he had also missed a video shoot due to a “family emergency.”

From Ultimate Classic Rock: =============================================Phil Rudd Is a ‘Good Fella,’ According to Man He Allegedly Approached to Kill Two People According to the man who was allegedly approached by Phil Rudd to kill two people, the AC/DC drummer is a “good fella’ who’s “burning the ones who care about him.” (He used the expression “good fella” in the literal sense and not as reference to the 1990 mob movie ‘Goodfellas.’) The Herald Sun reports that the alleged hitman was friends with Rudd, having met him in Tauranga, New Zealand, near where Rudd lives. He said that the drummer has had some problems. The man told the Bay of Plenty Times Rudd would often let him drive his cars – the latest Ferrari and Lamborghini models – as well as going for trips in his helicopter or going out fishing. But when asked about murder plot allegations, the man replied: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The aging rocker had recently become irritable and burnt a lot of bridges.
The man, whose name hasn’t been identified per court orders, said that police contacted him yesterday to let him know that Rudd had been arrested, which caused him to reflect on his friend. “The joys of being a rock star, always in the spotlight,” he told the paper. “You’ve got to feel sorry for him – just the expectations everyone has of him. He’s a good fella. He’s got a big heart.” Yesterday, Rudd was charged with attempting to hire a hitman to kill two men. He appeared in Tauranga District Court to face charges of attempting to procure a murder, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill.
