ACT Question
Hello Everyone, I have a MIDI Keyboard Controller that a while back I setup for ACT. I want these rotaries and sliders to ONLY control VST Softsynth parameters, however, if I accidentally click away and back into Sonar, my rotaries and sliders start manipulating track volumes, pans, etc.... I see where those are set up in the "ACT MIDI Controller" area, but I don't see a way to remove the track volumes and pans from these rotaries and knobs. I was kind of hoping to see a "DO NOTHING" here: Any help is much appreciated as I am inadvertently making changes to volumes and pans that I do not wish to do. Thank You! Adam

What I know from doing some ACT controller coding is that unless you deliberately, in code, force ACT to have hands off the Volume / Pan / Send / Mute / Solo etc.. section you have to code it yourself. By default the ACT controller includes the aforementioned track parameters in the big ACT party, which for most contestants is a-ok I would imagine.

You can configure AZ Controller for ACT only.

+1 to AZ Controller! Give it a try, it really works and has many options to configure a control surface / keyboard controller. For example, some rotaries of my controller are dedicated to control VST(i) only via ACT, while other knobs only control normal Strip Parameters (Volume, Pan, Sends) at the same (!) time.

how can i force ACT to not control Volume/Pans/Sends/Mute/Solo, etc? That is exactly what I want.

Try this, although I'm not at any hardware right now. Go ACT Mode on an effect and then click ACT LOCK on the Sonar GUI ACT Module. That will at least, if I recall, lock ACT focus there, on that effect.

www.azslow.com You can start with "Startup preset": http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,154.0.htmlThere is video which explain initial configuration. It controls strip parameters by default, but you can: * in the "Options" Tab/"Software States" select "Mode" / "ACT", check "Default state" and press "Save" in the same section * in the "Overview" Tab select "Mode" / "ACT" * do NOT define Next/Prev Mode buttons (so you can not switch it by mistake during operations) ACT mode use "Mute" buttons, Knobs and Faders. Assign "Display" button to switch on/off the "Display" window which shows the mapping and values (unlike "ACT MIDI" that is separate configurable window). To make good plug-in mappings without problems, you can use: http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,297.0.html Advantage over "ACT MIDI": you can define the number of controls you really have ("ACT MIDI": fixed 8x8x(8+1)). Disadvantage: a bit more time to learn how to configure it, comes from the level of flexibility it provides.

Thank you for the info, I will review. I can't believe I need 3rd party software to simply just disable my midi keyboard from effecting track vol/pan/sends.

You do not have to Sorry that I have not mentioned that before (I am not using ACT MIDI for long time). What you are looking for is "ACT follows context" option (visible on your screenshot). Uncheck it. EDIT: "AZ ACT Fix" (the second link) still make sense, it can save your nerves...
