ACT with plugins

Hello, been using my Yamaha Motif ES8 for some time now with different versions of Sonar, now on version X1, same problem. I have it setup as a Mackie control and works fine for transport control and control over tracks, problem is whenever I pull up a plugin and try to control it with ACT the only control that registers on the plugin is the ribbon controller. The knobs and faders keep controlling the tracks when the plugin window is up. Any ideas?
