Maybe I want one if my Tascam FW-1884 does not work in 8PE as good as it works in 7PE.

Looks pretty cool. Who doesn't dig knobs and lights?

On the other hand, it's a pretty expensive replacement for a $30 computer keyboard and $20 mouse.

OK, so it's got a synth built in. That's cool, too. I would rather have had a Muse Receptor built in.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I want one too, but Bitflipper is on to something here. My mouse, keyboard and midifaders (total cost is less than $300) do a pretty good job controling Sonar. As far as a built in synth, that's cool, but synths tend to get outdated fast. At least the Muse Receptor can be loaded with the latest VST, cool sounds of the day.

Not to be a nay-sayer, but I can't imagine very many project studios who wouldn't be WAY better off dropping their $3000 on:
    - better mics
    - better preamps
    - acoustic treatment
    - etc.

Aren't there already 3 ongoing threads about this?

Well, now, if they figured out a way to bundle THAT into the new console, I'd take out a second mortgage if that's what it took!

    - acoustic treatment

agreed, but perhaps project studios is not who this is aimed at? It's hard for me to imagine having $4G to blow on a complete solution and not having most of what it does already covered, which is why I still find it utterly mysterious that there seem to be no plans to break it up into a modular system.

Bitflipper, I think a Receptor would be cooler too, but I think part of the reason the Fantom is in there is to put a big fat Roland stamp on the thing just in case anyone was wondering.

Having watched most of the videos now, I remain very impressed with how well-thought-out the CS side of this is... and I'm sure it's the bee's knees to work with in person... but then I look down at my little AlphaTrack and say to myself, hey, this does 85% of the same stuff just as elegantly, for a fraction of the deskspace and a smaller fraction of the price. Not to mention that I still use the mouse and keyboard much of the time even for things I could do with the AT, and quite happily so. Oh well...

the Tbar is an obvious indicator that its repurposed AV gear. Maybe not the whole thing, but you ONLY see those on edit controllers/switchers for video. EG if you watch star wars episode IV, the scene where the death star destroys Alderan the black clad figures who are operating the blinky high tech console to engage the beam are using a grass valley model 100 switcher. State of the art in 1978 and chock full of tbars.

Sonar 7.0.3, Mattel Synsonics, Motu 828MKII (BLA), TC-powercore, Stillwell plugins, Moog MG1, Korg Poly 800, DX27s, Moogerfooger Lowpass, Ovation Magnum, Stingray fretless, Mesa Bass 400, Waldorf Edition, DBA fuzz war, Summit 2BA221, etc

Aaaahhh... hence Brandon's joke. Which was pretty funny even if you didn't make the connection, but now I see it was even cleverer. Cleverer and cleverererer.
