AI (PCI) Shootout ???

Crew...

Anyone ever done a PCI Audio Interface shootout?

Want to upgrade my AI after the release of my upcoming CD...want to stay with a PCI solution; & was wondering how, for example, the LynxTwo fared against the Delta 1010 (in both converter & overall sound quality)?

You hear so much, it's tough to discern. I overheard a project studio musician in Guitar Center the other day tell the salesdude that he had an Emu1820 that sounded better than the Apogee at the pro studio down the block.

For 15 seconds, I'm like..."I can afford one of those...nuttin' to it."

Seriously tho...I'm leaning toward the Lynx...but would like to check out a fair comparison of various units.

Thanks,

mark4man

    RME, Lynx, Emu 1820m

I have used the RME and Emu products, but not a "shootout"

It comes down to personal preference and I/O requirements.
An example would be that the emu is not 19" rack mountable. But I like it setting on top of the rack, and that there is a set of midi ports on the front, and the Mic/Line inputs for the 2 preamps are on the front.
Read the manuals carefully before purchasing. Notice things such as the Emu is primarily a 44.1 or 48 box, with higher sample rates you lose I/O.

Cost aside, the 1820m does live up to the sound quality hype and specs. The drivers are good enough now that the Emu forum is very quite. I have read no post, in any forum, that anyone has dumped the 1820m for better sound quality.
