It's not clear to me whether the software is updated from v2.0, or it's just the mic that's new. Can someone clarify? Cheers, Eddie

Its interesting cause I can't find an upgrade option for 2.0 users so maybe its inferred.

Not gonna get excited. It doesn't make clear if the new mic will give better results than the old mic under normal conditions, and it doesn't mention any improvements to the software. Anyway, I'm quite happy with ARC 2, it does what it says on the tin....

We have a news item published about the ARC System 2.5 with MEMS Microphone upcoming update on our site at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/news.php?id=873 which mentions that: Pricing and availability ARC 2.5 with MEMS microphone will be available in July 2017. Current ARC 2 users can upgrade to software version 2.5 for free (Mac/PC), for added compatibility with the new MEMS microphone model whereas ARC 1 and ARC TDM users can upgrade their software for as low as $/€ 49.99*.

does this imply that you have to use the new MEMS mic to work with the new 2.5 version, or can you use the current mic?

I'm still not seeing any benefit of using the new software without the new microphone. If I did my measurements again with the new plugin, would they be more accurate? Have there been improvements to the EQ?

My previous job was an applications engineer for the largest MEMS microphone manufacturer in the world and compared to condensers I can tell you MEMS microphones are: 1) more stable over time 2) more stable over temperature 3) more stable over humidity changes 4) part-part variation is very low 200-10kHz 5) more noisy 6) more expensive (generally) So, I'd imagine you can be more confident that the system will work better (due to #4 above) over a longer time period (due to #1-3 above). I also imagine the advertised +/- 0.5dB accuracy is only when the new MEMS microphone is used. Condensers at this price point can't hold to part-part tolerances this tight. Even if IK screened mics while building the older ARC2.0, they won't hold to +/-0.5dB over their lifetime. MEMS mics will.
