ASIO Overload with Dimension Pro

HI,

I started having this exact problem this morning. basically, everything has been running fine then last night I tried to install a version of Sibelius Version 5. I did get an error message at the end but the program worked fine.

This morning I tried working on my cubase projects and found that the red light on the VST Performance bar kept coming on and cutting the audio out. The bar itself isn't spiking and my cpu useage is at around 11%.

I'm using a few dimensions pro VST's, which I've had no problems with, despite it being something that eats away at cpu. Everything was fine until last night. Now i can't even replay a wav file in cubase without it cutting out.

I uninstalled Sibelius this morning and also performed a virus scan on AVG and ran a check disk on my C drive. Everything has come up fine and yet the problem remains.

Help, Help ! This is actually really urgent. Has anyone got any suggestions or does anyone know how the guy who originally had this problem fixed it ??

    ok...

1..maybe your asio settings are too low.. try upping the buffers. running 256? try 512 etc etc

    2. thats a rather old version of cubase, update it. current version is Cubase Studio 4.5.2

    3. Is you Dimension Pro up to date also.. including the VST fix for holding notes? (not in front of my DAW so it was either for that or rapture)

    Hi matey,

Yeh i upped the asio buffer from 2ms to 7 ms and it's running a lot better. Thing is that now I'm having slight latency problems. Everything was working fine at 2ms until this morning.

I can't seem to update cubase because i have XP64 which isn't supported, apparently. Do you know if any of the updates are safe and work ?

As far as I know my Dimension pro is up to date. Last updated around september time when i had the stuck notes issue. Everything seems pretty fine with it.

I did a fresh install of cubase and of my sound card tonight and it didn't improve anything. Would love to get the asio buffer back to 2ms....not sure what happened to change it.

I use the full install of cubase, and xp 32 / vista 32.. so not sure about xp64.. but I use XP media centre (which isn't supported) , so you could try them, or it's worth a try.

part of the reason I didn't go with it was due to me wanting to keep the few strands of hair that I do have.hehe

So I can't give you an answer about the studio update, only to say the full version update works fine.

the thing with the stuck notes, there was a vst update.

the thing with the update, it might improve matters as well there is a bit of a gap.

the latency thing though, are you sure your cards in asio mode? 7ms is workable. I currently use a delta 1010 and thats running at 23 ms.. without any lag. So I'm suprised with 7 ms is giving you issues.. maybe it's something to do with how it's working on the midi side?

have you done any windows updates ? that might affect it also.

    sorry I didn't reply sooner.

You might have more luck with this issue in the Cubase forums.
