ASIO causes record or playback counter to freeze
Hi Everyone, I just upgraded to Sonar Professional from X3 and there is an issue I'm having which was also present in X3. The forum search was not finding anything for me so I apologize in advance if this has already been posted. First off, I'm on Windows 10 (the issue was still present on Windows 7) Anyways, when I'm using the ASIO driver in Sonar, the time on the counter freezes. This happens both in playback and recording, but the thing is that it actually does playback and record. As I said, this also happened in X3 and I was forced to use WDM/KS drivers to get rid of the problem. I have an Mbox 2 with the latest driver. I also have the latest video card driver if that means anything. Do I have to use WDM/KS drivers again or is there something I'm not aware of? Thanks in advance, Patrick

I've briefly researched issues involving Mbox interfaces with ASIO on PC platforms, and my understanding at the time was that there was never a fully supported Win7 driver for it, much less Win10. Are you using drivers intended for a later device or maybe using ASIO4ALL? In any case, I think the issue is with the driver, and there is nothing to be done in SONAR to fix it.

First off, thank you for the quick reply. I am using the driver for my intended device. It is also meant for Windows 7 and 64 bit and no it's not ASIO4ALL. My initial thought was that it was the driver itself as it did work properly in Pro Tools when I used to use it. Thanks again.

This page on Avid's website lists only "beta" drivers for Win7: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Mbox-2-Drivers Of course "beta" doesn't necessarily mean they aren't serviceable, but is does suggest a lack of extensive testing and validation (i.e. with different DAWs). Might be time to shop for a new or "pre-owned" interface. Hope you get it sorted so you can enjoy SONAR to the fullest in any case. There's nothing especially wrong with using WDM drivers, but I've always found ASIO to work best.

The 9.0.2 drivers aren't beta and I thought they were 64-bit for whatever reason. Anyways, that's what I'm using at the moment. Maybe I'll try the beta ones.

Try disabling 64 bit precision engine. Run windows update everywhere. Try disabling virus scanner. Try uninstalling driver, rebooting, reinstalling. Then resetting the audio interface hardware. No audio interface firmware updates? Ta
