ATTN: Focusrite Scarlett users.

I've been having some problems with latency/drop-outs with my Scarlett 2i4 first generation. Scouring the web a little I found
this thread in which people were discussing using the second generation Scarlett drivers with the first generation units. A rep from focusrite chimed in saying this:

Hi all,
We are currently in the process of adding support for the smaller 1st Generation Scarlett units (2i2, 2i4 & Solo) with our 2nd generation 4.x driver, hence why you were able to get the 2i2/2i4 working. Development is ongoing and we will announce official compatibility for these units in due course. Please note that the latency reporting for the 1st Generation devices is inaccurate at present so I would encourage not to read into these figures for the time being.
Best,
Jack // Focusrite Technical Support

Anyway, I'm currently using the BETA 3.2.2 Driver on the latest Win10 update. I'm wondering what other people are using with their Scarletts and if anyone has tried the v2 drivers with success.

I don't have your unit; I have an 18i20, 8i8 and 6i6, all first generation.  All these use the same software, but I don't know if any of my experience applies to your unit.

I experimented with their beta driver software on Windows 10 and had to revert, with help from tech support (which is excellent).  Way too much clicking and popping.

Three weeks ago, I contacted them about the second generation MixControl software, which looks more intuitive than the current version, to ask if it would work on the first generation units.  They assured me it would not.  So, your post is intriguing.

I also have 2i4 first generation with Win 10 Pro and noticed (intermittently) the drivers would drop. I just have to unplug the USB/plug it back in and it then works without issue......still, I shouldn't need to do this (BTW noticed it only in Win 10).

I'd be up to trying out the Gen. 2 drivers, and would also like to know what your experiences are with them.

Thanks for your responses. I don't have time to give it a go right now. Still, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a long overdue driver update
