Aaarghh, since X2 I can't for the life of me find the Overlap Cropping hotspot anymore!
Title says it all! I NEED it! Anybody help me, please?

It says in the (offline) help file that I'm supposed to move the cursor between the lanes until it becomes the "overlap cropping tool", but it simply ain't happening!

Yeah, bug report coming up! Still buying your video though  Maybe I'll learn to get by without Cropping Overlapping Layers. Er, sorry, Lanes!

TBH I didn't use that method in the comping videos hence I never noticed
I do demo two comping methods though, One using the mute tool which works well on material with distinct breaks such as vocal phrases and the other by fading selected clips which works better on more continuous material such as instruments.
That may help for the time being.

Hey, I actually managed to find it once! Grabbed hold and moved the edges back and forth a bit, but after letting go I can't find it anymore. I don't believe this is the intended behaviour.

I found something!
I can consistently get the tool to show up if neither of the clips have fade ins/outs on them. Cropping the overlap (with auto-crossfade on) imposes fades on the clips, so I have to get rid of those in order to re-grab the junction.
Not practical!

Is it a feature or bug. I would rather have the tool override the fades.

I did a little more testing.....
I can only get it to work, partially, when a V-Vocal clip is one of the clips, and only on the left edge of the clip.
I can hover over the right edge, get the smart tool to change (like in the video), but when i click and drag... the tool becomes the move tool....

One more thing:
In X1 and earlier, I routinely used the overlap cropping tool to combine takes even when layers weren't enabled. With X2, I can't get it to show up in this context.

Hi guys, I can confirm that that this functionality got lost in the transition from "layers" to "lanes." I'll even suggest that the behavior you're seeing is not our "intent" ;). I'd like to request that anyone who is impacted by this submit a report here: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/problemreport.aspx This will raise the priority of the case so that it gets addressed when we update. We have a patch planned that will introduce official Windows 8 support. We'll be able to include fixes for a few issues like this in that release. For now, I think we'll need to slip edit the two adjacent clips individually. Clip Landmarks can be enabled to help keep them exactly back-to-back. Thanks.
