About Sony Sound Forge 8.0 Plug-ins!!!

I've just installed Sony Sound Forge 8.0 on my PC, which added several effect plug-ins to my effect palette in Sonar, but for some reason, I can't use these effects in real-time!!

But I can use them as Audio effect process, but the processing takes a lot of time for one track...These effects are really very nice, but I wish I could use them in real time. Anyone has any clue why these effects are so slow to process in Sonar???

Another thing is that I made a mistake when I found that some plug-ins could not be used in real-time....when asked whether I wanted these to be removed from my list in future use of Sonar, I chose 'yes' and now I can't get several of these effects in Sonar anymore!!! Can you tell me if I can add them again to the list of effect plug-ins in Sonar???

Thanks in advance for your help!

Use the Plugin Manager to re-enable your plugs.

Plugin Manager is a seperate install. It's on your S4 disc.

Ok I've managed to solve the first problem by rescanning the VST plugins using the VST adapter, but the second problem remains, those that I have removed are still unavailable in the list....I don't know where the Plug-in manager is!!

SF plugs have always given trouble when used with Sonar. Some, like the pitch shift, may cause you to crash. I'd simply avoid using them in real time. Process off-line - Tools/Sound Forge/ process in SF / Exit.

I don't know where the Plug-in manager is!!

The Plugin Manager is a seperate install on your S4 install CD. Once you install the Plugin Manager, run it and look under "Excluded". your missing plugs will probably show up there.

On edit: Once you've installed the Plugin Manager, it will show up under "Tools" in S4 and under Programs>Cakewalk>Plugin Manager.

Thanks for the tips!!! I managed to solve all my problems!!! I also realized that the plug-ins were not working because I was working in Sonar 2.2 XL, instead of using SOnar 4 PE!!! In Sonar 4, these VST plug-ins work well in real time too!!!! I was not using Sonar 4 PE because I am so much used to the Sonar 2.2 interface...I think I must let old stuff go now and take new things!!

Some of the Sound Forge plug-ins (of which Pitch Shift is one I think) generate 64 bit data which will crash the current versions of Sonar. It is possible that S5 with it's new 64 bit engine will fair better with Sony's plug-ins.

Will any of this be a problem with Sonar 5 PE. Since 5 will be VST compatable w/o the need for a wrapper? And will the Manager also be included in 5 PE. I also have Sound Forge (although mine is 7 rather than 8).

    Acoustic Tones:
Time will tell - as for most of us, SoundForge is launchable from within Sonar and can proces/edit and then return a clip to the Sonar project. I've had all of my Sonar Plug-ins work fine in Sound Forge 8.0b - looks we are now down to hours regarding delivery of S5.

None of our plugins produce 64 bit (double prec floating point) output.

All this time I thought it was a given that Sound Forge plugs don't work in Sonar.

Never tried to use them offline.

I thought the incompatibility thing was solved in Sonar 3.
