About playing along with an MP3 with SONAR opened.....

I would like to use either iTunes or Windows Media Player to play along to MP3 songs while playing my e-drums using drum softwares but they both complain that the sound device is already in use when I have VSTplugins open. (I'm using addictive drums & superior drummer). I think that I can use a sequencer software and set up separate tracks for the Midi input (drums) and the mp3 file but I thought there would be too much overhead for my little laptop to deal with.

Whenever I try to use any drum program & either open "Toontrack Solo" or your "Sonar 8"...
...both MP3 softwares just can't seem to work. It says all this stuff an output interrupts it~ I'm guessing it's the ASIO soundcard installed but I know there's a way for playing an MP3 file in your laptop/PC while any kind of host is open~

I've received some replies from other sites regarding this & they said that you gotta have an Audio Interface in order to make this "Vstplugin + MP3 player" to work but as of now, I only have a MIDI interface and Audio interfaces are waayy too expensive for me to afford...

I kind of just thought of letting the sound go out on an amplifier
and get a separate MP3 player to go through with this...(like an iPOD or something)..Then again, Will this method work once you record your drums on your host program..?

I'd love to know on how I can make iTunes or Windows Media Player work properly while your Sonar 8 is opened 'cuz
I want to play my e-drums w/ vstplugins while watching video drum tutorials or playing along with MP3 songs~

Any suggestions would be appreciated..
Please do kindly share what you know..
All the best!

Audio interface is a soundcard,  and most audio interfaces, also the inexpensive ones, have both audio and midi connections.

Have you tried importing the mp3 to SONAR? That should work, I guess, SONAR handling both the drums and the file playing in the back. Of course, it doesn't help in watching the video tutorials and playing along web material that is loaded in real time.

It may well be that real time web streaming together with SONAR and the VST's is too much for your PC.

Why didn't you botherr to tell us what your soundcard is? It's the most essential info in this case!
You say it's an ASIO-card, which means it's not the integrated one on the motherboard, because they don't understand ASIO.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Oh, I have already tried importing MP3 in Sonar. :)
Long way back~ But it kinda takes too long to load compared to that
of how iTunes or Windows Media Player would handle things.

    I don't have a soundcard. I just googled this "asio4all" plugin & installed. All I have
is a MIDI interface which is an Edirol "UM-1B". That's just simply what I have & using as of now~

    Hmm...I see, I see~
So are you saying that this "iTunes/WMP + Sonar" isn't possible to get along
    with one another?

Do you know a way for them to both work at the same time &
    get long with one another?
