About to "launch"

I got my X1 Producer today and I am very anxious to get it on . . .  I mean "in" . . . . . MY COMPUTER.
(Where's your mind! )

I am between projects, so I want to clean remove Producer 8.5, before installing X1. Is there a clean sweep executable, or any tips you might have for me? I always feel that the on-board windows uninstall doesn't clean things enough.

Then again; it may not matter and may be alright to just use windows' uninstall and install the X1 onto what may be left behind, without troubles. Is it?

Thanks to all.

Congrats and thanks for upgrading to X1! While you certainly can remove 8.5 from your system there is really no reason not to. X1 and 8.5 can live side by side on the same machine without conflict.

Agreed. I've been glad I kept 8.5 on here (for reality checks mostly)

I'm agreeing - it is sitting side by side - on my system and I have not experienced any conflict!!!!

Some users (who have had a bad experience with X1) have reported that their 8.5 installation had gone bad after they installed X1, and/or removed X1 from their system.

In the event you decide to uninstall 8.5. here's a link to uninstall instructions you might find helpful: http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/discuss/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1106

Let me add that X1a is running great for me after I installed it on a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit! :)

Okay. Side by side it is !

(But, after the bugs are worked out and X1 is running great and I have ignored 8.5 to a point that it becomes suicidal; can I delete it then?)

    Thanks gang

Thank you for coming and welcome to the future. Once you have spent time here you will not want to go back. (Unless you are on a laptop running Windows XP, with too many plugins for the minumum amount of ram you possibly have)

One other thing I would recommend is to make images of your HDD before you install X1 just in case something happens. I do that before the installation of anything major.

If you have a Western Digital HDD, there's a free version of Acronis True Image available on WD's site. I 'think' it only works on WD HDD's though, but I could be wrong as I have never used that version. I purchased the 2010 Home Edition of Acronis directly from them.

    Good luck.

    Bub.
