craigb is my kind of weirdo. Hopefully he's currently surrounded by boobs... but the good kind... and certainly not moobs... unless he's into that kind of thing.

I've got the first of what I'm hoping is a string of successful interviews set for tomorrow mid-day.  If everything goes well, I'll be back to having a "real" job with excellent benefits and salary.  Oh yeah, and they prefer 40 hour work weeks (haven't had one of those in ages!) and their new building is only a mile away.  They have about 12 openings that I either partially or fully qualify for so the odds are looking good.  The first role they're checking me out for is a Project Manager position and, if that's not the ticket, then Senior Applications Developer.

Now getting THAT job will be a nice birthday present!

    Thank you!

First paycheck: Buy new clothes (I hear they wear suits or, at least, shirts and ties, but I don't have anything from this millenium!).  Then, hire a CPA to fix a couple of tax returns so the IRS doesn't strap me onto the rack.

Second paycheck:  Buy a new computer & X3 (plus pay off the remainder on the custom guitar that's been waiting for me for over five years).

The only thing good about going through what I did, is that I don't have debt anymore and have learned to live on squat.  They have a 401K that they match 50% on so I'm going to max out my contribution (helps on taxes and will start to recreate the retirement money I lost).  But, after that, I really only need to lease a car eventually and the rest goes to toys and investing (probably in that order - lol!).

    Hi,

Gratz Craig and good luck. It's your turn to shine.

My big old friend, that I had worked with, just got laid off from Intel, and that was a bummer. I bet that he is also having an application in there.

But a mile from work? You're gonna learn to exercise now, right?

Step one done.  Next up should be position-related interviews with department heads.  Man they have some weird behaviorial interview questions now!  (Google "STAR interviews" to see what I mean.)

I keep reading about how they actually work only 40 hour weeks - nice!  I averaged 56.3 hours per week for over ten years before moving to the Pacific Northwest and have been far closer (if not over) 80 hours per week for the last five... (while making squat).

Don't have the job yet, I've only made it through the HR Rep and the Corporate Recruiter interview (mostly behavioral questions).  Next will be separate interviews with different departments I believe (probably the first week of January).
