Accidental Discovery- Applying Audio Effects
I had a few audio clips with drag-the-triangle fades in them and was auditioning audio effects. These are not 'keeper' tracks, just working tracks.
I inserted Reverb in the FX bin and found the ones I wanted and Process>Applied the effects so I can keep an idea of how I want the final mix to sound while I finish up the song, and so I wouldn't have to mess with the effects for thiose tracks while I recorded.
Anyway, I found that the fade envelopes were also applied, which I didn't expect. In retrospect, that's logical since the envelopes are audio effects.
So I started wondering how to apply volume envelopes when no other effects are in the clip. If the only effect you have in the clip is the volume envelope, you can't Process>Apply it. The procedure in the Help file (Process>Audio>Fade/Envelope) doesn't exist in my Process menu, even with the clip selected. I know I can bounce it down if I want.
I'll have to explore some more.
Note to newbies: Do not use Process>Audio>Apply Audio Effects and save the project unless you're absolutely sure that the effect is really what you want. Better to make a copy/clone of the track so you have the uneffected original track available if you have a change of mind about the effect later.
