Accidentally dragging clips while selecting

Does anyone else get annoyed by accidentally dragging clips while selecting them? It can be very subtle, and sometimes not noticed for a while.

I wonder if it is possible (or desirable) to have the mouse click that selects a clip not be able to also drag it until the clip is clicked again?

I know there is the workaround of setting snap, but that's not always convenient when editing in the TV.

Cheers, Peter.

It happens to me a lot as well. It is very annoying. I position-lock every clip before I try to select them.

I would suggest CW to implement a small amount of delay between the click and the moment when the select tool would change to the move tool. This would prevent accidental clip dragging  while selecting clips but will preserve the simplicity of workflow.

Now I have to select "the select tool" before I want to select a clip, but then I am limited just to selecting clips. All the other tools that are available when using Smart tool and not available while using Select tool.

50 milliseconds or 1 second would be enough I think. Maybe something like this could be implemented into the Sonar X1 Helper  Sonar Helper :)

After I built a new PC my preferences didn't migrate from Sonar 8.53, I couldn't find the setting that ask if you to confirm a drag move, no luck finding that feature, yet. Locking the track is under clip properties.

Make sure the confirmation warning is on.  Saved my butt many times.  With you on the annoying!  Not sure if or where the setting is for the confirmation though.

Preferences (Advanced) / Customization / Editing / "Ask Every Time" check box.

It helps a little but it is still a workaround. And I do not like workarounds.... :(

I find it annoying too, but I also might find  it annoying if when I clicked and dragged immediately (which is how most things work), it didn't move.
