Acid Loops Don't Sound Right in Sonar

Hi, sorry if this is a noob question, but when import Acid Loops into Sonar they don't sound right. They sound sped up or out of pitch. I tried adusting the tempo, stretching the loops, and changing the reference key but nothing seems to work. I have used these loops in Acid Pro so I know they are supposed to sound good. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What setup are you dealing with? PC, OS, soundcard, version of SONAR, etc......You may not have SONAR jiving with your soundcard properly.

Check the sample rate settings of your soundcard and SONAR.

Thanks for the suggestions guys and I put the system specs in my sig.

I reinstalled Acid to compare the sound to Sonar. Both the Acid Loop and Sonar are set to 44,100Hz and 16 bit depth. The Acid loop itself has a root note of G3. When I turn the reference note off in both Acid and Sonar it sounds the same, so I have made some progress. But if I select a reference note (same in both Acid and Sonar) then the pitch sounds different between the two. No matter what combination of reference notes I use between Acid and Sonar the pitch never sounds the same. Well, making progress anyway, hopefully you'll have some more insight into this. Thanks.

Oh yeah, one other comment is that I have been using the M-Audio Firewire 410 interface with Sonar for recording with a mic and MIDI controller as well as being my main sound card without any issues.

what exactly are you doing when you "select a reference note"? I don't understand what it is you're doing.

After importing the Acid Loop into Sonar, go to Clip Properties / Audio Stretching (second tab) you can select to "Follow Project Pitch" or not. If you select to follow the project pitch, you can then select the "reference note". There is essentially the same thing in Acid. The only time they sound the same is when they are both turned off. I would think however that they should also sound the same when both have the same reference note selected. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology, I am a noob, but that's what it's called in Sonar.

    Thanks.

I loaded several Acidized loops into........

    A...SHS

    B...Sound Forge

No problems at all........in that the loops all functioned.... once properties were set up accordingly.

    That being said................

    1. SHS defaults all audio groove clip/Acid Data...................... to Root C

If your Acid Loop is Acidized @ any other root, your audio pitch will change..........

    2. Open your loop in Acid or SF and look at properties in........

Special menu ........Edit Acid properties .........Beat Map.

Here you will find actual Acidized tempo and other proerties

I opened about 30 Acid loops and checked these properties in all cases the Acidized tempo was different than the default 100 BPM in SHS.

So, once SHS tempo was adjusted to match the Acidized tempo all was good.

When changing the tempo in SHS don't use the stretch audio function.......just change the tempo.

    Good luck

Thanks for all the help zungle and everyone!

I found the issue was that Sonar was defaulting to Follow Project Pitch ON for the imported clip so it was changing the pitch. Once I turned that off the pitch was correct.
