Acid loops question...

I have nearly 100G of assorted Acid loops. I know I can use them in X3 but I am wondering if I can use them in Sampletank or Kontact. Most of them I don't use but I have some drum loops and one shots I like. Also have quite a few GroveMonkee loops. I see that Kontact is quite a bit more expensive than ST2, and I wonder if there will be a good upgrade path from ST2 to ST3. The price of Kontact is almost prohibitive for me... then there is Band in a Box, I don't know if I can use loops in it. The full 2014 BIAB has a pretty hefty pricetag too.
Any advice?
Thanks,
J

I can't speak for any one specific product except for Kontakt, but if it claims to be able to use .wav files, then it will have no problems using Acid loops. Acid loops are wave files with extra metadata indicating key and loop points. They'll work with anything that uses wave files - it's just that looping capable DAW's, i.e. Acid, Sonar, can make use of the extra data for pitch changing the key and such.

Kontakt should play your acid files.  I don't know if they will keep the acidized info or just play it back as a wave file.

Kontakt can be got cheaply - esp. this time of the year.  It should be on half price.  I got a heavyocity library w/ player - you can pick up Player for free at NI.  It won't play other official libraries except in demo mode.  But for dropping acid files you can see how it works - tho there is a steep learning curve.  I then picked up Kontakt for $200 or so - good investment if you want to mess w/ sampling and about as cheap as any other big library synth.

There is a free sampler - TXZ or something.  There was another thread about it.  It is supposed to be pretty good, esp. for the price.

Kontakt may not always be my first choice for instruments, but when I need to make something up from scratch it's the number one choice. There are times when you need to put together an instrument, or convert a different format into Kontakt so that you can edit the instrument. Kontakt gives that ability and is very configurable, despite all the complaints you might hear on how difficult it is for some to use.

Here is the link to TXZ or something (aka TX16Wx) for those that do not own Kontakt and need an inexpensive sampler solution
