Acoustic Instrumental - Blue Ridge Morning

Haven't posted any new music in a while. I just finished my first new tune in months.Tried using some traditional bluegrass instruments (banjo and mandolin).Since I can't really play either one I kept it simple. Hope you like it.
Comments welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Dan, keeping it simple works, nice work. Love the sound of that banjo combined with the mandolin.

    Greetings, Rik

edit: listened again, after Wookie's comment, on headphones and there is an annoying buzz on this. If I remember  correctly, that acoustic blues you posted a while ago also had a buzz on it, maybe a hardware problem ?

This is very pleasant and I did enjoy, if I may observe there seems to be quite a bit of noise and a buzz which is distracting.  This could just be me, what was you recording chain?

That sounds nice - good balance on the mix.  The banjo is an interesting instrument to use for the lead melody in a slower song.  It has such a fast and short decay.  Nice blending of those acoustic instruments.

Nice, atmospheric , and somber. Yes, sometimes less is more. A little eq to call out the character of each instrument would add color. Took me out into the woods...cool.......Ron

    Hi Rik,
Thanks for giving a listen. The buzz everyone is hearing is probably the bad electrical wiring in my home. It's over 100 years old and no matter what I've tried I still get 60 cycle noise. Std single coil pickups and a high gain amp are out of the question. This was one of the most difficult recordings I've made in a while. The original had too many errors to use so I had to start over again. I am happy with the end result although it's not as clean as I would like. It has the feeling I was going for.
You are correct-I did have the same problem with the previous blues song.

John-Thanks for listening. My recording chain varied with the instrument.
I use the V-Studio 20 into an Alesis mixer in to the computer. The 6 string acoustic and bass were direct. The 12 string, banjo and mandolin were miked with an SM57.

Geno-Thanks for checking it out. I tried to use the banjo in a non-traditional way. Picking a simple melody and using the character of the instrument for the tone.  I can't finger-pick a banjo.

Ron- Thanks for listening and your kind words. Everything you mention is what I was working for.

    Dan

Nicely done Dan. You've set a nice mood with this one. I like that understated bass line as well.

Hum or no hum, this is well played and simplistic is always a good thing IMO!

    More please!!!!

    Hi Dan,

Beautiful tune and very nice atmospheric mix. I'm not hearing the buzz which is kinda worrisome for me.

    Nicely done.

Good stuff. Would make a nice backdrop for a film sequence. Simple melody floating over some unexpected chording. Moody, melodic and interesting. Like I said, good stuff.

Thank-you everyone for listening.I really appreciate that you have taken the time to listen and leave some nice comments. This site has been a great inspiration to me.There are so many good musicians here that play, record and master their own music. It really motivates me to work harder to improve the songs. Now if I can just find that darn buzz everyone is talking about. I'm like Gary- I can't really hear the buzz either and it worries me. I do have tinitus so maybe that's why.

    Thanks Again

Absolutely beautiful!!! I had to close my eyes and play it again.. I recorded a bebop tune at moderate tempo and got some flack about the speed of it. Thanks for posting this song.
