Acronis security message

Hi-

I've been getting this message fairly often lately:

I have Acronis True Image Home installed, and acc. to Task Manager, two of its services were set to start automatically, although I don't schedule any automatic tasks.  I changed those to manual.

I also checked for malware, viruses, etc., and nothing shows up.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks-

-Susan

Did you just install a new version?
I got a similar version when I was running the beta and then installed the released copy. The registry had some left over droppings.
    Just a thought.

    Hi wormser-

No, this is the same version I've had (2010, build 6.053) for quite a while. Maybe turning off those services helped, I haven't seen the message since.

It didn't pop up that often (maybe once a day), so time will tell.

    Thanks-

I've been using Acronis TI Home for several years.  Never got anything like that.

I currently have the 2011 version.

Susan, I'm wondering if the message is a result of the Acronis software trying to gain access to the Acronis web site. Maybe if you're using a firewall, you could prevent the software from accessing the internet. Just a thought. Good luck.

I get a feeling that she's trying to backup to an online storage server and their Secure Server certificate expired.

    Yep.
Or, she has some bad data concerning certificates lingering around in the registry.

    Yep.

    No, she's not, but thanks.

Someone on the Acronis forum said it's a problem with their website not updating security certificates and to clear my cache. I still don't know why my system would even be trying to access the site, though; I'm certainly not doing anything deliberately that would send it there.

I cleared the cache and switched the Acronis services to disabled instead of manual, I'll see if that helps. It doesn't seem to have any bad effects; it's just curious and a mild annoyance.

    Thanks again-

    -Susan

Acronis automatically checks for updates and that is why it is accessing the site.  I shoud have caught the security certificate issue at the beginning.  I'm not sure why you got it and no one else, unless something in your security software or something is set higher than others.   I've seen security certificate issues with many sites including Microsoft and Roadrunner (my ISP).

That's probably what it was, but I don't know why it "suddenly" started happening nor why no one else was seeing it.

I haven't seen it since I switched the acronis services from automatic to manual startup.

    Thanks-
