Action Reaction(orchestral)

This is a new song I wrote last month. I just got GPO4 and I wanted to try it out and see if I could make something epic sounding. At first I wanted to make something for a video game, but I think the piece took a bit of a left turn. Oh well. Anyway what do you think? http://youtu.be/qHoBCjO-U_c

I agree with Frank 100%.  This piece has depth which gives it tension and release.  Welcome to the forum.

    All the best,

That sounds quite good for GPO!

The string accompaniment at the beginning of the piece that goes from E minor to D major could be dressed up a little for more interest.  Try something like Emi sus4-Emi, D2-D.  That little contrapuntal motion under the melody creates more interest.

I also think adding a solo woodwind to the string melody at the beginning, perhaps a clarinet the first time and an oboe on the repeat could be effective to create even more orchestral color shifts.

All in all, a very nice short piece!

notnat- Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. All the other songs on my youtube page are completely different, but variety is the spice of life. Lynn- Thank you. It's great to someone else from KC here too. jsaras- Thanks for listening. I though about adding counter point in there, but ultimately decided against it as I though it would take away from the power. Although harmonically simple, I found that adding more "ornaments" and harmony took away the driving quailty. If I decide to write another movement I'll keep that in mind though. That chord progression you posted is nice. I might add woodwinds to the beginning thought. Good idea.

Nice piece and video presentation. I have never been able to get GPO to sound that good.   Well done.

    Nice.
