Add Track - Instrument: use Plugin Layout.

The Add Track feature that has arrived with Newburyport has the ability to add an Instrument Track. It appears to have only one presentation of the available instruments, which is an exhaustive list ordered by developer. It would be much better if it used the same facility to select a Plugin Layout that appears everywhere else that instruments (and other plugins) can be inserted.

Voted - The current format of the Add Track instrument list prevents me from using it, because I cannot recognize my plugins.  The list format should at least be consistent with the Browser and Insert Soft Synth display.

Can "Add Track" Utilize A Custom Plugin Layout For Choosing Synths? 2016/04/01 14:39:42 (permalink)

I have a custom synth plugin layout that I've been using in the Broswer for a long time.  Would be nice if the "Add Tracks" option can utilize Plugin Layouts.

totally agree.  I've been using a very family softsynth plugin layout for years which I am used to.  Makes the "Add Tracks" feature useless to me.

Don't forget about the excellent track template features in Sonar.
You can add instruments, multiple outs plus a bus to go for all outs - in one go.

Common sets of tracks are more easily added by track templates in my view.

That's very true ... but what about adding a 3rd tab labelled "Templates" to the pop-out. That would make the whole thing very versatile and make the newbies aware of the template functionality (and steepen the learning curve as provided templates are otherwise fairly hidden to a newbie)
