Add midi track to all audio track project

I have a project made of 12 audio tracks. However, I want to play a couple of soft syths in the project. When I add the midi track and set it up as i would when playing when recording midi, I hear nothing. Also when I hit the "run/stop audio engine" it will not light up. When I open previous midi projects, my soft synths work fine.

So my question is how do I add midi files to an audio project and be able to hear the soft synths. Or how do I turn on the audio engine after adding a midi track? Thanks!

    just use the insert synth option and it should work, and what soft synths are you trying to use. You dont do anythnig different just because you have audio tracks in your project, they co exist just fine
