Hey Beepster, yes indeed, metal is what I mostly do. I work in several studios around town, plus my own. I have to do whatever the clients want, but when I actually have the luxury of working on my own stuff, it is always metal.
Heellllll yes, I am glad to see that we have some serious metal heads on here :)
You like zee metal, Dan? Exzellent.
There are a few of us around. I think Sonar is pretty well set up for metal guitar players who want to put together full arrangements. I only had to snag BFD and GR5 to round it out but since TH2 and Addictive Drums is now included it's pretty much ready to go out of the box. The Pro Channel is extremely well suited for easy guitar tweaking IMO and aside from the glitches Take Lanes are awesome for hammering out sketches and solos (thank Chtulu for the Notes section).
BTW, Dan. I thoroughly enjoyed your blog entry on micing acoustic guitars (I play "the old man's guitar" quite often too). Very useful.
Now I kind of feel like dropping my laborious jazz studies for a week to put together another Beeps metal tune. Last two I did were total engineering hackery (I only had Sonar for a couple months and was just poking at it like an irate bonobo). Should be able to do much better now.
Cheers.
