Addictive Drums ( sorted)

Hi again, still struggling with Platinum.

I don't appear to have addictive drums in my browser.  I was trying to follow the tutorial by opening the browser and clicking the instruments tab to find them. however I don't appear to have an instrument tab there. I do have the VST 2 option, under the plug-ins tab but addictive drums is not there either - any suggestions please?

Yeah, it doesn't come with the SPlat downloads. You have to create an account at XLN's site (the company who makes AD2), apply the reg codes supplied by Cakewalk and download the files from there.

It's also a little weird these days. You don't download a core program. You download the free ADpaks and MIDIpaks. You also need to download and install their installer software before any of that will work.

On top of that the only browser supported are Internet Explorer and Safari so if you have anything else set up as your default browser you have to temporarily change that to either of those browsers. If you have tight internet security settings like I do you may have to ease up on a couple of the options (I forget which) before even THAT will work. The installer software requires it to make the download connection.

Quite a rigamarole really but it's a nice sounding program for a "free" add on so it's worth the effort. I just wish XLN hadn't gone all weird and bonkers with this stuff. It used to be much easier before they redesigned their site and changed the install process.

Cheers.

Heh. Can't take credit for that one. Fortunately for me it hasn't been actually going *splat* on my system compared to earlier versions so that's nice. I think it was coined by Craig Anderton. Certainly saves on typing out Platinum every time.

Still it doesn't accurately describe this incarnation of Sonar like the X series or the numbered series did. I used to call all the versions Sonar 2015 to compensate but that's out of date and a pain to type too.

Then I leaned on the street names they had for monthly releases but those are gone.

I propose this...

SArt for Artist

SPro for Professional

SPlat for Platinum (obviously)

And now with the date naming convention add the month followed by year like...

SPlat5/16

or

SArt2/16.

It would also give more room in thread titles which for a blathering mouthpiece like me is premium real estate.

lol

Cheers, Sluggo.
