Addictive Drums to Exdrummer2 midi transfer trick

Just found out a cool way of moving midi files/grooves from Addictive Drummer2 standalone to the Ezdrummer 2 standalone midi song block area (bottom of Ezdrummer GUI).  I was auditioning some midi files in AD2 and wondered if I could just drag them down into Ezdrummer 2's midi song block.  Yep.  Just drag any midi clip straight from AD2 to EZDrummer 2's midi song block area and it works.  Then you can use it to build your songs with the ease that Ezdrummer2 provides.  Sometimes I just like to audition grooves in the standalone mode, and this transfer makes use of the standalone even more fun and creative.

I knew you could drag the midi into Sonar's midi track, but it is nice to see that you can drag from AD2 to EZD2 standalone modes and it works.

[EDIT:  After draging the midi from AD2 into EZDrummer 2, I then tried to drag that midi up into the Song Creator.  It works and this opens up the search engine to find other EZD midi patters that are similar.  Great news.]

THis.  How could an AD2 midi loop play an EZ drummer kit?

Both apps support drag and drop which is why this works.

That may work, BUT if they are not mapped the same you won't get the same drums or articulations being played in the other program.  A don't know about AD2 but your other thread seems to indicate there is a requirement to re-map.

I agree.  I still haven't gotten the remapping to work for midi files, only for controller input. I am pretty sure its an AD2 bug.

Thanks for the comments about the mapping differences.  I knew that the two programs used different maps.

My reporting of the ability to drag midi from AD2 into EZD2 was just to show that it was possible; I had not known this.  My attempts to drag midi from AD2 to EZD2 merely showed me that by putting the midi into EZD2 midi drop zone (in the Song Creator) that EZD2 could show similar patterns and a lot of variations.  I do know that there are differences.  So if I have a pattern in AD2, I could load it into EZD2's midi drop zone and find a variety of midi files in EXD2 that were somewhat similar and which gave different variations for helping with creativity.  It at least showed similar rhythms, but yes there are differences.  For me it helped get ideas into the Midi Song Creator to get me out of a rut.

[EDIT:  I can not figure out in AD2 how to load the EZDrummer Map for AD that I have for AD1--so the following is questionable for me---I do have an Ezdrummer map for AD1, but cant figure out how to install it in AD2-so i am stricking through parts of my post below.] Having said this, yes, they do use different maps.  At least there is a map available for use with AD2 so that EZDrummer map can be used in the AD2 program.  So if a file is taken from EZD and put in AD2 beats at least the ezdrummer map will help for use of that file in AD2; not that this helps with the drag idea.  I do not know of an AD map for use within EZD.

Again, thanks for the helpful corrections and comments about mapping.  These comments are helpful and corrective.

Thanks Clintmartin for the pm on how to load the EZdrummer map for AD.  Nice.

For others--I know that this map does not solve the mapping issue of drag and drop from AD2 to EZD2.

But thanks for all the helpful replies.
