Adding Effects in Sonar 6.2 - Help before my head explodes!!!

Hi Sonar wizards -
 
I'm hoping someone can help me.  Since I've had this new machine and installed Sonar HS 6.2 on it, I haven't been able to apply effects I was able to on my older machine. When I right click on the fx bin in a track, only a few options appear and they're not the ones I want. When I select from the "audio fx" menu up at the top (under the "process" menu), a bunch more fx options are available but when I click on them, they don't get applied to the track I've selected - these are .dll files, evidently.
 
Actually, I just went back to look again. Sometimes all those options in the process/audio fx menu are NOT always available. Sometimes they are grayed out.  What am I missing?? It's making me nuts. 
I'm using an M-Audio profire 610 interface with this.
 
I'm wondering if something isn't installed that should be???

    Have you tried going into the plugin manager and re-scanning the plugins?

    Is the new machine Win 7 or 8?
    Is the OS 64-bit?
    If so, did you load the 64-bit or 32-bit SHS 6?
    The DX effects and synths that came with SHS 6 will not work in the 64-bit program on a 64-bit OS.

    Greg I think you nailed the problem. The new machine is 64-bit. I'll have to download an update or something somehow.
