Adding track templates to existing tracks?

Hi!
 
Anyone know if it's possible to add effect settings, volumes and all other settings that are saved into at track template or such to an already existing track?
I know about track templates and inserting them, but that adds a new track, and I want to apply the settings to an existing one.
Any chance that works?

    Not in SONAR 8. That was a new feature introduced in X1. What you can do, though, is insert a track template and then drag the previous track's data into the new track. That'll take about 2 seconds.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Well, a good thing that it's implemented on newer versions at least. 
    The workaround as you suggest is what I've been doing in a project I'm doing a different mix on. Ten songs with 20-30 tracks takes a bit more than two seconds ;)
    But things are like they are, and now i know for sure. :) Will be upgrading to X3 later this year.

    It is a bit of a issue for those of us who might be working on an album of 12 or more songs that were recorded as a live band. 
    All the songs are going to probably need the same processing and treatment. 
    You get the first song perfect, but now have to repeat the same steps over and over... 
    In the old days this was no problem because once you had your tape return channels dialed in every song was being processed the same. The album would have a common ground. 
    When digital mixers came out you could even save the mix as a pre set. 
     
    But other than doing what Dave mentioned there's not much you can do to take 12 songs and apply the same processing to each. You have to manually move, or save pre sets for your efxs and hope to hell you put everything where it belongs. I hate dragging tracks around, good way to put it out of alignment. 
     
    What would be cool in a DAW environment is the Mixer working the same way a digital mixer works with scene recall. 
    I guess it's possible but I've yet to make it work with Sonar.

    One way of working could be to record and mix the whole album in one big project, so the songs follow each other and use the same tracks and settings. And a live recording could probably benefit from this, but I'm more dubious to go about in a usual recording in one gigantic "song".
     
    Would be nice to be able to print out all the settings of each channel and bus, would be a great help when applying the same changes to the other songs, making sure one doesn't forget anything. |:)]
