Addition latency after creating send

Hi
I work with X1 with 256 samples latency (ASIO drivers for Tascam FW1082). My typical project contains usually some VSTi (no more than 6), and some audio tracks (vocals, and guitars).  A couple days ago I noticed than just after I create send with Perfect Space on it as a insert, additional latency appears, and its impossible to play, or record VSTi - latency is too big. The problem disappears just after removing PerfectSpace from send bus, and rebooting audio engine. I'm sure the main reason is Perfect Space. No other effects (reverbs) causes latency like Perfect Space does. Is this a bug, or something else?
My staff: MAC MINI (Boot Camp WinXP SP3), Tascam FW-1082 (ASIO mode), Evolution keyboard as a MIDI controller connected via USB, or simply via FW1082 MIDI ports. Sonar X1.

for years i have noticed that having plugins active in seends or buses causes latency.  when i am recording a performance with a vsti on ap project like this, i turn off any plugins in an aux or bus.  i do not have to do anythinng else, the latency just disappears without adjusting the buffer size or anything.

it makes sense that another "level" of processing tasks would introduce latency.

    anybody having a different experience?

That depends on the plugin you are using. By far the most of them shouldn't add any latency at all, because they can be calculated within the audio buffer size. But some, such as compresors/limiters with a lookahead feature or plugins using impulse response convolution (like Perfect Space) will add their share.  If I hadn't Cockos' ReaVerb, I'd use Reverberate by LiquidSonics as my go to convolution plugin. Both work with no added latency and do so very nicely with even less strain on the CPU than Perfect Space.

I only have latency on the buss when I use IKM's LInear phase eq. Other than that, no issues.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

true, it does deepend on the plug.
i find, tho, that the buffer setting hardly makes a difference one way or another and that my quad core is never working very hard in these situations.  very few of my projects are big enough to significantlyy tax it.

yet certain plugs in the busses have to be turned off in order to play vstis in realtime.

i dont mind turning those plugs off but i would be welcome to any information eliminating the need to do so :)

Yes, it has nothing to do with your ASIO buffer settings or CPU load. If a plugin says it needs delay compensation, Sonar will obey.

Perfect Space does definitely add latency, but I just leaned that it lets you dial in the amount.
Click on "Info" and then on "set latency". You need to reinsert the plugin to make it happen.
It can go down to 64 samples, mine was at 512 (which I assume is default, as I never have been there before). That's pretty nice (albeit not perfect, pardon the pun). Most probably tolerable to record with it, if there is not much more latency coming from elsewhere.

It would be good If there was a place in Sonar where you can get a readout of the current delay compensation amount and where it comes from.
