Adjusting Modulation and Distortion

I am using Sonar X1 Studio and I have made a loop using the step sequencer. I was wondering if I already have the loop laid out on the track template, how can I adjust the modulation, distortion, and those kinds of things as the track goes on, instead of making a new loop and changing it? Thanks

A chain is no stronger than its weakest link...

I take it's a drum loop you've made, so if your drum synth has built-in effects then you can either automate their values over time using the automation envelopes, or by activating automation write for the plugin ( click the W in the top right corner of the plugin window ) and manually change the effects sliders / knobs over time.

If the drum synth doesn't have any built-in effects, then you'll need to add one of the various Sonitus or Cakewalk effect vst's that X1 Studio comes with to the track's fx bin & then automate its' values over time using one of the above methods.

You can do that for each drum track seperately, so you could have a flanger on the hi-hats & distortion on the clap/snare.

Or you could create a new stereo bus & set the output of each of the individual drum tracks to this 'drum' bus & place the effect in the bus's fx bin so that it will affect all of the drum tracks together.
