Adobe Audition CC for mastering

I use Adobe CC - typically for Photoshop, Illustrator, and some video editing.  I finally got around to checking out Audition and the Mastering Plug-in piqued my interest.  It seems similar to Izotope Ozone...

Is that fair comparison?  Does anyone use it for Mastering?  I'm curious to hear any opinions.

It wouldn't surprise me if the mastering plugin came from iZotope. They've been making plugins for Adobe since the acquisition of Cool Edit Pro.

That said, I watched this tutorial on mastering in AA and can say without reservation that that tool is nowhere near being in the same league as Ozone.

Of course, there's no reason you couldn't run Ozone within AA and enjoy its benefits inside an environment you're already comfortable with. Plus you'd get all the great features of AA, many of which don't exist in conventional DAWs, such as amplitude statistics, spectral editor, file conversion and pop/noise eliminators.

Yes - I watched that video.  I'll have to play around with it and check out those features.  I was hoping it could be an alternative to Ozone considering I already have access to it...

Yeah, that video looks identical to CS5.5, which is what I have, and I believe it is scripted internally by Adobe. It is capable in some ways, but pales in comparison to Ozone. With that said, AA does play a very good host to certain plugins; I use both Ozone and the free Limiter No_6 in AA. If you already have Ozone, it is worth trying in AA.

Sure, it's definitely a viable alternative. After all, great masters were being done long before Ozone (or Pro-L or Elephant or T-RackS or Sonnox Inflator) ever came into existence. Sophisticated tools just make it easier, not necessarily better.
