Advice on Windows 7 64 bit upgrade

I just purchased a new computer (HP Z600) that is running Windows 7 64 bit. Should I use this opportunity to upgrade to MC5? For me MC4 has been working fine. I am concerned that I will lose my strange ability to record four simultaneous channels. Something I have been told I should not be able to do with any ver of MC (see my pervious posts).

Also, if I do update to MC 5 or not on this new computer and move my Delta sound card over, will all of my existing projects work without any configuration problems?

Thanks
Mark

MC 4 should work, but you'll have to set it to run in 32-bit emulation mode since no version of MC is 64-bit compatible.
The M-Audio may need 64-bit drivers to work, or set it to run at 32-bit, too.
Your projects should load up just like on your present machine.
If loading MC 4 on the new computer doesn't give you 4-track recording, use the old computer. You can have MC on different computers as long as only 1 is used at a time.
Another note; MC Pro 24 is the only version that officially allowed 4-input recording. All other versions are 2 input only.

I think I may stick with MC 4 since it is working fine for me and MC5 does not seem to provide any better support for 64bit

That’s really strange that I think I can record four tracks simultaneously. I wonder if I can somehow be mistaken. Could I test this by doing the following?
Start a new project with four tracks, setup MC4 as I have in the past (see below) armed all four tracks and recorded a few seconds of sound in each track one at a time by plugging a microphone into the Delta 44 INS 1-4 one at a time. If it plays back and I see the sound going from track 1 through 4 as I move the microphone would that confirm that it’s recording four tracks simultaneously?

MC4 Track 1 Input = Left M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 1 Delta 44 (Track Properties)
MC4 Track 2 Input = Right M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 1 Delta 44 (Track Properties)
MC4 Track 3 Input = Left M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 3 Delta 44 (Track Properties)
MC4 Track 4 Input = Right M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 3 Delta 44 (Track Properties)

    Maybe a misterm.
You can record one input on multiple tracks; you can't (with most MC versions) record more than 2 simultaneous inputs.
You can record 1 stereo track or 2 mono tracks simultaneously, but no more than those 2 inputs.

I think I’m recording 4 mono tracks right?
So with the settings I’m using I should not be able move a mic to the 4 different INS on my Delta breakout box and record 4 different things at the same time, correct?

MC4 Track 1 Input = Left M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 1 Delta 44 (Track Properties)
MC4 Track 2 Input = Right M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 1 Delta 44 (Track Properties)

MC4 Track 4 Input = Right M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In 3 Delta 44 (Track Properties)

Mute all tracks, and listen to each separately, make sure you are not recording the same thing on two tracks.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!
