Advice on staff view and roaming views.
Hi, I use Sonar Home Studio 6.2.2. I have 2 questions about it: 1. I would like to share the drum parts of certain songs with my band’s drummer. I want to hand him the musical notation as showed in the staff view. However, there is no print option (although the manual says there should be one), and the notes are shown in a single long line on the screen, which rolls on as the song progresses. I want to see the music like the lines in a book: below each other. So I can make a screen snapshot and send it to the drummer. Can this be done? 2. My other question: when toggling among applications, coming back to Sonar I always have to close soft synth screens one by one, before I can proceed working on my song. I know the ‘Enable tabbing for open views’ option, but I don’t like working with tabs either. Is there a way to have those screens in the background by default? Thanks in advance for your advice.

quote by RobertB There are a couple of ways to do this. The simplest is to uncheck "Views as Tabs" in Views. Select "Staff", again in Views. The staff view will be in its own window, which will enable the print function. Happy printing!

The print option is at the bottom of the File menu. Click the arrows >>>. When the notation prints, it will show all the staves, not in one long line, but like standard notation. To capture a screen shot of the notation, click the Print Preview button.

Hi Robert B / Beagle, I understand 'Select "Staff", again in Views. The staff view will be in its own window, which will enable the print function.' Thanks, it works. I don't understand '...uncheck "Views as Tabs" in Views. My menu shows an option 'Enable tabbing for open views'. Is that what you mean by 'Views as tabs'? What is the relation of this option with printing? Or are you adressing my other question with this answer?

Your best bet on this one is to Close, not Minimize, the synths, and Save the project. They will still function normally, but the GUIs will not populate your screen. Then call up the synth GUIs as needed.
