Advise for entry level pci sound card

I need advise for an entry level sound card with built in midi module and mic in for vocals. I had roland rap 10 sound card some time ago which is not compatible with anything nowadays, but was excellent for me. I need a similar card. Any recommendation is appreciated.

Are you saying that you need a preamp built in for your mic?

If so, you might want to look at the Echo Gina or the M-Audio 1010LT.

If it was me, I think I'd go with the EMU 1212 and the Soundcraft Compact 4. You could then later add an ADAT box for 8 more inputs.

If you don't need the extra inputs, there's also the M-Audio Audiophile 192, still with the Soundcraft board, which IMO is a great little board and definitely better than any built in pres in a soundcard.
