After 8.5 uninstall, Jamstix3 is no longer recognized in X1 !
I have had X1 for a few days now and I like it very much - especially its stability on my system. I decided to finally uninstall Producer 8 and 8.5 tonite, as I will never use them again - however, now I am getting the VST Plug-In Error : "The following VST plug-in failed to load...jamstix.dll" on a test project I did two days ago and have been in and out of with X1 many, many times over the last two days...including just prior to the uninstall. I have done a rescan and ensured it loaded in my other DAW software - which it did. I just tried to insert it into a brand new project with same results. Something in the Sonar uninstalls of 8 or 8.5 created this - I reviewed each "file not in use" before I allowed deletion (perhaps 4 or 5 files total between the 2 versions and they were old apps, the last one being the only one in 8.5, a cw tuner). Any ideas how to recover from this, short of reinstalling Jamstix?

Never use them again, eh? Would you consider parting with PE 8? As in selling it?

As obvious as this sounds, have you tried rebooting? I've had on again/off again problems with JS, and often just restarting the host resolves them, other times a reboot does it. I tried adding it to a new project in the X1 demo and SONAR went non-responsive. It then stalled on JS during a VST scan, but after that it loaded fine anyway. I've seen similar strange behavior with JS & my other hosts. -Susan

Susan G tried rebooting? -Susan yes, several times... I just tried a "Reset All VST Plug-ins" followed by a Complete Scan, and Jamstix was never flagged...but it no longer shows up in my VSTi list. And while doing the scan, I received an error on my z3ta+...something about verifying a Resources Folder - and had to click through dozens and dozens of various files most of which were bmps - all for z3ta+ just to get through the scan. No Jamstix in the listing, but now z3ta+ caused more "dozens and dozens of mouse clicks", and all this effort, crashed X1! And my other DAW, it also gave the same errors. So I assume that z3ta+ is tied into 8 and/or 8.5 and by me uninstalling them, in effect, canceled my use of z3ta+. Anyway, these seem to be my only conversion issues - and they don't seem too bad... So I will reinstall z3ta+ and wait for Jamstix3 help...

You're not receiving PM's or it's undeliverable for whatever reason. Anyway, if you want to part with 8.5, PM me.

Was your 8.5 install x32 or x64? If 8.5 was x32, could it be that JS3 was installed in the Program files x32/cakewalk/vstplugins, and now that has been deleted with 8.5 install. So if x1 x64 is now installed the they will be in program files/cakewalk/vstplugins, but not the stuff that was installed using x32 you deleted that. Just to be on the safe side, make sure you are scanning both folders.

Thanks for the replies. I restored a week-old Ghost image (which included v8 and v8.5 64bit ), reinstalled X1 (to "b" ) and everything is working as it should. I guess I learned my lesson about house cleaning my old Sonar versions (and Zuma's right - not for sale).

hehe. I knew last night you had changed your mind... and I don't blame you. I've been searching other resources for a copy and it's like looking for water in the desert. I couldn't even find 8.5 on Ebay. It's my own fault for not snagging it when I had the chance... oh well.

Well, nothing happened so no big deal as far as I'm concerned. Sounds a bit controlling to me though. If I own something and decide to sell it, I will, without any thought or regard for the company. It has become mine once money has changed hands and I'll then do what I damn well please with it. I suspect what you're talking about, the Hula hoop thing, refers to the license and rights to updates and future discounts. That I can understand and accept, but the actual software is a different story and they have no legal right IMO to prevent you from selling it to someone if you so choose.
