'After Eleven' - short prog instrumental in 11/8

Hey All,
 
On 11/11/11, I was thinking of this idea for a prog-ish instrumental in 11...    I didn't quite around to until a few days later, but I still like it!   I think 11/8 kind of grooves...  What do you think?

    Nice.  I'm trying to count the time and come up with about 5 different time signatures.  Soooooo I quit doing that and listened to the music.  I like it whatever the timing is.  Keeps you on the edge of your seat!

    Thanks for the comments!   Yes, it's definitely in eleven, subdivided in a couple of different ways.... In the first part it's like seven and four:  1-2-1-2-1-2-3-1-2-3-4.   I deliberately made it short so I wouldn't end up working on another epic, which it easily could turn into.   I'm supposed to be working on other music right now!  Maybe I'll expand this one later.   

    James, you're correct  - King Crimson is in my DNA, so the influence turns up a lot for me.

    You had me at 11/8 and Prog Rock, love it, def too short but once again if it was for an album that could be the coda for a peice or a Pt1, now that is def prog rock.

    11/8 rocks because what you are doing is dropping a beat, this is a cool composition tool.  What you are doing is makeing it feel urgent, because of the dropped beat and your makeing it feel faster than it is because of the dropped beat.

    When you can do timeing tricks like that, you are the magician, because people think and feel your in 4 or 12 in this case but we know your not.  It does not work so well with 7 and 5, you can feel the jarring when you play in those time signature, 7 less so depending on if you use it sparingly, if not you can hear it, Money. 6/4 and 6/8 work also and can trick the listener into believing they are listening to 4/4 

    Sorry not the mighty Crimson King but def ELP, this is because of the piano and organ.

    Great, the mix must be alright I am just listenening to it on my laptop speakers.

    Love the odd time. It's a great riff as well. I see why people would not think of 11/8. It's not easy to cound. The riff sounds like normal meter but it fools you. 

    Very creative and well done! 

    Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

    I like it.
    I love odd timing, but you really have to stay with your groove, or it falls apart in a heartbeat.
    You did a good job on this, and I really like the motion of it.
    I could listen to an expanded version of this. When it ends, it sounds like it still has more places to go.

    Thanks so much for all the kind comments!   The timing truly does begin to feel normal when you play in it for a while.  I keep coming back to this...   My wife thinks I should expand it and add vocals.   We'll see what happens.
