Aim Assist randomly turns off, setting not saved with project...

Yeah what the title says.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is this how it's supposed to work?

I'm using X1 Expanded with the 'D' patch.

Cheers =)

I've noticed this as well. Also show/hide track changes made via the track manager aren't retained.

The aim assistant thing has happened to me. Even while working on the same project. Not closing and saving it, just using the AA and next thing I know I have to enable it again.

    Bit annoying isn't it..
Still, I've managed without it before now, and I dare say I'll continue =)

Is this how it's supposed to work?

I reported aim assist constantly switching itself off after every mouse click (and not persisting across saves/loads) as a bug well over a year ago. The answer I got was "this is exactly how it's meant to work - just hit the hot key when you want to see it", or words to that effect, anyway.

    Annoying, isn't it.

I can only assume someone at Cake thinks having to hit a hot key after every time the mouse gets clicked, rather than the hot key toggling aim assist on then it persisting until the hot key is hit to toggle it off, is a really, really good idea.

    I can't imagine why.

It works for me using X1 expanded latest build.

A while back there was a bug where dragging in a clip from the browser would cause Aim Assist to turn off, but they fixed that one.

Can you provide a recipe that causes it to disappear after a mouse click?

I don't use the AA all the time. But when I do I would like it to stay on until I don't want it on anymore.

What happens for me is I'll work with the AA; then do something else and when I go back to TV, that's when I notice that the AA isn't on. So I haven't figured out what I was doing that turned it off!!

Is that how it's suppose to work? I thought it was suppose to stay on till you turned it off.

Mine will stay on until the project is closed.

The setting is not retained even after saving & closing the project

Anyone else having the same problem as me (or is it normal behavior), that when ticking a box to show/hide tracks in the track/console view via the TM, those settings won't remain after saving? I'm wondering if the two are somehow related.

I am curious what other people use Aim Assist for.  I use it when splitting clips to make sure I cut in the right places.  That is the only time I turn it on.

I mostly use it for lining up clips across multiple tracks, and splitting clips across multiple tracks.
It's great for intricate sample placement too, for instance when constructing self made loops etc.
Good tool, hope it gets fixed in the next update.

Not something I've encountered, seems to work fine here...

chilldanny knows this, but for those who are new to the game:

    • I trim audio clips on different tracks and in different spots to the same relative time.
    • Example, vocal sings the same thing in each chorus.  I use the scissors to cut off some silence at the front of the clips.  I may cut Chorus 1 so the clip starts at 18:4:60 and Chorus 2 starts at 34:4:60 and Chorus 3 at 66:4:60 etc.  (Note that this does not affect the actual sound since there is a blank space before the audio).
    • This makes it easy to copy on clip to another part of the song without tedious work to align it.
    • This is also good for moving, aligning, copying, or replacing various harmony tracks.

I also use it for accurately placing envelope nodes, selecting ranges, moving the now time, probably several other things.

Once I switch it on, it stays on.

Funny how there are always more ways to achieve the same end. In the scenario you're describing, I just slip edit the front edge of the 'master' clip, then just ctrl + click + drag.
