Airplane. I like lots of the earlier tunes--Volunteers Of America, Someone to Love, etc. The Starship tunes just didn't connect as well for me.

I love Jane. but have to agree completely with Jan (hmmm...) about "We Built This City." might be an OK song (for a pop tune) but it was played so much I can't stand it. Love Jane, tho. Love the piano part and the vocals!

Jane was a fantastic song. The rest of the Starship material never really connected with me. (To me) the Airplane material was all about Ms. Slick and her personna.

Airplane, especially the Volunteers album. Never really liked the pop Starship stuff - a totally different band.

I'm going with Starship and it's just because of "Modern Times". Grace came back which was cool and it was also there first video LP but my main reasons are- the writing, production and performances. All of which I think peaked with that album. JMO.

Starship. Because they were hilarious looking in '80's fashion. I couldn't tell the Arthur's from the Martha's...

drewfx1 Airplane, especially the Volunteers album. Never really liked the pop Starship stuff - a totally different band. I'd even divide them into three or four different bands - the folk-psychedelic era that produced White Rabbit up through maybe Dragonfly... then the soft-pop era (Red Octopus for example)... then the "Jane" period... and their last/current incarnation led by Mickey Thomas without any originals. My favorite is the Jane period which is when I started listening to them.

I always liked the song Rock Music off of Freedom at Point Zero. That band had a great line-up including Aynsley Dunbar on drums. But if I had to pick one I would skip the space and aeronautical references and go with the sea food at an elevated temperature (plus they are tasty with a little dolphin and mercury).
