Akai MPD18 Setup

just bot an Akai, have been messing around in preferences and can't seem to get it set up in Sonar X1

I assumed I would just plug it in and it would show up as a generic device?  Thanks-sg

    desperate.. here is the deal.

this is a plug and play device.. ie no drivers other than using Windows System drivers
    which are working
    1) in WIN XP>DEVICE MANAGER it shows up as USB Audio Device

so.. it does not show up as USB input in Sonar X1...

nor does it send a message thru the mini MIDI icon in the WinxP system tray
    like my M-Audio keyboard does..

THUS, if you go to set up in ACT there is not input or device to target.. it won't be seen in Generic Device because once again, there is no input

    Any MPD users?? thanks-sg

    You're using xp?

If you have a lot of usb midi and have plugged them into different ports they register as separate devices and I'm thinking there is a limit of 10.

I had to clean out all the old devices and start fresh.

Can't remember how, search for the xp midi limit or problem...

It doesn't show up in sonar as a midi device?

It should be just like a keyboard because it sends out notes...

    +1
if it doesnt show up in sonar as a midi device i would tend to consider the xp usb midi limit thingy.. you do need to be draconian on allocating your midi devices to usb ports.. take a read here.. http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?3072-Problem-when-connecting-midi-devices-to-multiple-USB-ports
