Wow I didn't know Akai was still around, I had a complete Hi Fi system built by them back in the 70's complete with the reel to reel. Looks like they still maintain the same look. What's your round trip latency showing Rick?

Since this unit has both INPUTS and OUTPUTS

Would this be considered the EIE-IO?

Dave, I hope you are still watching this thread.
I've had one for about a month now. I love it.
What really sold me on it was the 3 built-in USB ports. So I can connect all of my MIDI controllers.
Being able to turn on phantom power for only two of the four inputs at a time is really nice.
Initially, it was a bit flaky, and tended to buzz a lot.
After stepping through various sample rates using WDM, I moved it back to ASIO, and it hasn't missed a beat since.
On my system, X3 is misreporting the round trip latency at 27ms. This would be very noticeable, but actual latency is imperceptible.
Note that I am running X3 on a Vista system. It works, but is probably not on its best behavior.
I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but I am actually pretty impressed with the EIE Pro.
The pre's are clean, and it offers more I/O flexibility than anything else I saw at it's price point.
It's not particularly compact, but seems well made.
All in all, it has exceeded my expectations, and I can recommend it in good faith.
