Albums from 2017 Anybody ?
Cross posted from "Beyond Cakewalk". Some of my favorite Albums released in 2017, in no particular order. - On Her Journey to the Sun - Rikard Sloblom's Gungfly. I love this one from BBT guitarist and ex Beardfish frontman Rikard.
- Skyscraper Souls - Downs Braide Association. Geoff Downs and Chris Braide, with contributions from Andy Partridge (XTC), Dave Longdon (BBT) and Marc Almond among others. The poppier end of the prog spectrum.
- The Ferrymans Curse - The Strawbs. Septuagenarian Dave Cousins is back and his lyrics are as poignant as ever.
- Recovery is Learning – An excellent return from illness for ex Touchstone vocalist Kim Seviour.
- We are Legend – Magenta, Welsh prog!
- Grimspound – Big Big Train, an excellent follow up to Folklore. They also released “The Second Brightest Star”which is nice but it’s more of a “bonus tracks” release of alternative versions and songs that did not make Folklore.
- Sight of Day – Mostly Autumn, and epic album by any standard.
- Screens, Live in London – Panic Room. No new material but an excellent capture of a fantastic live band preforming some of their best material. (Also on DVD)

jamesg1213 The Unthanks - Songs & Poems of Molly Drake
Thanks for the reminder, I meant to check them out after hearing some tracks on the radio. Not on the album but I am loving "Starless" A folk group with a brass band covering King Crimson - Priceless! https://soundcloud.com/the-unthanks/starless

I bought the album after hearing them on the 'Detectorists' soundtrack, very nice stuff.

Thanks for both of these. I didn't know anything about the new Strawbs release - went to amazon immediately and placed my order. I never knew of Mostly Autumn - ordered Sight of Day as well after hearing just two of the example clips. My best of the year: FEAR by Marilion - not that anybody needs to be alerted about that one. To the Bone by Steven Wilson - I liked Hand.Cannot.Erase a little better, but this one is damn fine as well. Adam Holzman is arguably the finest prog rock keyboard player out there right now, and anything he's on, I want. and for a change of pace ... Jeff Tweedy's Together at Last.

Not a complete list, but take most of Glyn's, add dmbaer's plus a bunch of others (like Metric and Deep Purple's Infinte)...
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Ditto. HCE and the Raven have the edge overall, but To the Bone has some awesome tracks if you delete 'Permanating'. Albert Hall gig in March...
Wood Studio One 3 Pro, (Sonar Platinum), Intel i7, Win10 Pro, 32Gb ram, RME Babyface Pro, Behringer X-Touch, Presonus Faderport, Akai MPK49, Arturia KeyLab25, KRK Rokit 5 monitors, and other sonic surprises.
