Let me know what you think of Steamworx.......I'm listening to the sounds as I type and do like what I hear.

So far I'm liking the vocal presets among others. It's similar to their other libraries- sound quality, depth of space. Sometimes the presets don't need much tweaking but it's available if needed.

Thanks Carl......are most of the sounds "musical" and useful?

'musical' in what way, melodic? It's more atmospheric, soundtrack, ambient, rhythmic, pads etc. Lots of layers but could edit & transform them into more 'melodic/ musical' presets if that's what you're after. Quite usable though.

Does anyone have the same experience as me when you're listening to a long series of these types of sounds, they just all end up sounding the same? I'm not knocking the quality of Camel Audio's stuff because it is clearly top notch, but I don't know man...I keep thinking I want to incorporate some kind of swirly ambient plinky goings-on in my music, but whenever I browse sounds like this (usually with descriptions like "evocative pads," "cinematic impact" and "evolving soundscapes") it just dawns on me that I can't really tell the difference between most of them. I bought their "water" library when it was being sold for charity a while ago, and while I really like the sound of them in isolation, I just cannot find a place for them in my music. Maybe I'll keep trying

Yep i'm now into some of the Spitfire sound design stuff that sounds great ...also im might jump on the ghostwriter Those atmos are exellent but like you said kinda redundant ....but i just made 3/4 of an album with those , it all depends on the style , this is Horrorkore , german rapper ...so it's spot on , i incorporated also intsruments (real) from spitfire and crazy drums from Maschine 2 : wiked !! http://www.gearslutz.com/board/9634958-post38.html if you wanna check the vibe ;) here's a track base on alchmey for sounds (and maschine for drums) But don't underhestimate those , cause it's all about texture and color witch will make your track dressed ;)

If they sound 'swirly' maybe it's not inspiring you ot just you're pressing a key & letting it play through with out any musical intent. For myself the Alchemy libs are creative nuggets I sometimes have to edit quite a bit before I have that aha moment or part I'm looking for. I use them quite a bit with my Spitfire & other orchestral libs as well.
