Just so no one gets the hump - here's the link http://www.camelaudio.com/Alchemy.php The browser looks way better. It wasn't the greatest to navigate previously.

Thanks Striking!! I just logged into my account and there's also some new preset/samples "Taste of Camel" for Alchemy 1.5 as well as Cameleon Remixed samples for Alchemy 1.5. I like ALL Camel stuff and it's even nicer to get these for free!!!

Yep and you saved me a post (well not quite because I've just written this post to say you've saved me a post). I like the Camel. Great products and their support is superb.

If you were previously fully up to date with your install you should just need to download: - 'Download All Presets' (link at top) - Samples '3' for Alchemy - Samples for Taste of Camel I'd buy Alchemy secondhand. There's been a healthy secondhand market due to their enormous sale a couple of years ago with good bargains and packs thrown in for good measure. Diva could be a while for a sale. They are confident it's going to sell. Cracking reviews for it.

I've been holding off upgrading to 1.5 as there seemed to be some initial concerns about the browser and the compatibility with some soundsets where the developer hasn't taken the time to provide search keys etc (?). It does look good but quite a departure. SO - how big a deal is the upgrade? - I have a half dozen or so 3rd party add on soundsets in addition to the factory and freebie library -

I got that too. Looks pretty cool. Is Alchemy the best soft synth in the world (according to BT)? The price is pretty good. I have Omnisphere but I have a feeling that Alchemy is still a different beast? I have it on my iPhone and iPad and really love to play around with it. So, is it worth geting? At least with the discount? And how hard is it to learn to use properly?

At least with the discount? And how hard is it to learn to use properly? I think it's a fantastic synth with excellent quality of sounds that are simply inspiring. It's fairly easy to create and manipulate these sounds into something new with all the envelopes, LFO's, excellent step sequencer + much more that I've still haven't had time to learn. It's a very powerful synth (much, much more than my needs). Maurice, check out these tutorials..... http://www.camelaudio.com/tutorials.php?tID=14 and Camels support is excellent as well. Before I bought Alchemy, I had the free player and then Demo'd the full version for 30 days......of course, after a week of playing with it, I bought the full version from a user at KVR for almost 1/2 price (+ a free soundpack). The only downside to buying it used is it's not for resale (NFR) now........I'd never want to sell it anyway as this is a keeper. Camelspace is another really fun/useful tool to have in your toolbox. (I've yet to get CamelPhat, but is definitely on my list). Yes, I like them Camels!!

Alchemy is great for sound design stuff. And a good VA. Works well with Rapt/Dim Pro since it is fatter, thicker sounding. The René synths cut nicely against it. X2, Alchemy. How am I supposed to get any work done learning these new-fangled tools?

I've never used it before but I like the look of this synth! Seems real versatile.

The help videos explain it all really well. It's definitely a 'fiddlers' synth if you want the full value of it. I'm a preset kid but that's not the intention of this synth. It's a creators dream. The browser has always been weak for such a great plug-in. The sound is all that matters but I think they made the correct move to update the browser part. Looks like they've gone down the NI browser route that you find on Massive, Absynth and the Kore Player etc. They are pretty sharp at correcting bugs so I'd expect a quick update if anything needs sorting.
